Coda: "Creative Corridors" Receives NEA Funding Endorsement

From an Arts Council press packet: "[Yesterday] the National Endowment for the Arts announced a $200,000 matching grant to The Arts Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County and The City of Winston-Salem as a result of a joint proposal made to its Mayor’s Institute on City Design 25th Anniversary Grant program. Randall Tuttle, Chair of the Coalition, can be reached at 336.725.4411 or rtuttle@tradestreetcap.com . Christine Gorelick, Vice President of External Affairs, The Arts Council, can be reached at 336.725.2585. cgorelick@intothearts.com. Creative Corridors Coalition has reserved the Web site www.creative corridors.org, which will be operational soon."

The NEA award shows national acknowledgment of the merits of the ideas for Business 40 improvements advocated here by your author and by the Arts Council's Public Art and Design Committee for over two years now. The ideas still need ongoing local support: vocal, financial, and inspirational. We refer you to the Corridors group website for their further development and ask you to stay involved with their plans. - JEE
